Review of Late Spring and Summer

Following the great success of The 39 Steps, we moved seamlessly into our Murder Mystery fundraiser. Not only was it a thoroughly enjoyable evening, but we also raised a significant amount to support the group with set and costume costs for our upcoming Panto.

We were especially delighted that Thomas Lennon from NODA was able to join us and present the Flame Trophy, which was proudly accepted by David Fairweather and Alan Ward. The trophy and certificate will be brought along to the first couple of Panto rehearsals for anyone who hasn’t yet had the chance to see them.

I am also pleased to announce that we now have a new Regional Representative for District 3. While Thomas Lennon has been kindly standing in, our new rep is Jane Gough, and I’ve already invited her to our Pantomime.

Our Picnic in the Park was well attended by our adult members, though we had hoped to see more families and younger members join us. We still have a community pass to for Osterley house available, so if anyone would like to arrange a visit with a small group of members, please speak to Megan, who is holding the pass.

For those who haven’t heard, Dick Whittington will be performed at Isleworth and Syon School from 4th – 6th December. It’s not too late to get involved—whether on stage in the chorus, backstage, front of house, or helping with set and costumes in the lead-up to the show.

At our recent General Meeting, attendance was a little lower than hoped, but those present had some valuable discussions about possible future productions. With our 50th anniversary approaching, there’s interest in choosing a well-known show to mark the occasion. Acorn Antiques proved a popular suggestion, though licensing costs may prove restrictive. There’s also enthusiasm for Blithe Spirit, a fitting choice as it was the group’s first established production.

If you have a script perhaps you can prepare something to read or just tell us why you think it would work for us as a group. We have lots of scripts at the hut so if anyone has any suggestions let Jacqui know know before Tuesday via Whats App and she will check if we have a copy.

Have a look at the past productions and gallery page to wet your appetite.
